Nintendo Labo Buyback Prices Are Awful In Japan

Whenever a new video game launches in Japan, buyback prices offered by retailers are often between 10 and 20 dollars below the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.

Unfortunately this doesn’t seem to be the case with Nintendo Labo. GEO, one of the largest video game buyback retailers in Japan, is offering a measly 1000 yen (USD9) to anyone who’s considering to trade in their Nintendo Labo Variety Kit for cash. That’s a fraction of the game’s 7538 yen retail price.

Some Japanese commentators were surprised by the low buyback price, given that Nintendo Labo just launched 2 weeks ago. Others were amused.
