During yesterday’s Nintendo strategy briefing, Nintendo announced Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now the fastest selling game at launch for any Nintendo home console ever in history.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has outsold all of its predecessors in Japan at launch, recording sales of 3.32 million units in its first 4 weeks after launch. Nintendo attributes the success of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to the wide demographics of the player base. The company says people of all ages and genders have purchased the game, and Smash Bros. Ultimate is effectively a “giant gathering” of all players who had played a Nintendo game in the last 35 years.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has achieved a sell-through of over 10 million units. The title has continued to show explosive growth after its release, with the fastest start for any title on any Nintendo home console ever.This chart shows the Japanese sell-through of Super Smash Bros.
