Nintendo Pledges To Continue Supporting The 3DS Despite Plunging Sales

In Nintendo’s latest fiscal earnings release for the period ending September 30, 2019, the company reported on their plans for the Nintendo 3DS.

Nintendo has reaffirmed their support for the Nintendo 3DS, marketing it as entry level hardware for new consumers. This is despite the fact that hardware sales have decreased 62.9% on a year-on-year basis, and software sales have tanked by 58.5%:

For Nintendo 3DS, hardware sales totaled 0.37 million units (62.9% decrease on a year-on-year basis), while software sales totaled 2.60 million units (58.5% decrease on a year-on-year basis).

For the Nintendo 3DS family, we will continue to fully utilize the platform’s rich software library to appeal to consumers purchasing game hardware for the first time, while continuing to drive sales of evergreen titles that leverage the hardware install base.

What do you think of their plans?
