Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures Inc., the three owners of The Pokemon Company, have registered two trademarks in Japan this week.
The first trademark is (ミュウツー), which is Mewtwo’s name in Japanese. This is distinct from the “Armored Mewtwo” trademark that was filed a few months ago, and covers various goods (e.g. cushions, pillows, cosmetics, shoelaces) as well as events. It is likely that this was done due to planned tie-ins with the upcoming release of Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution.
The second trademark is (タッグオールスターズ ), which translates to “Tag All Stars”. This trademark covers trading cards and videogames, and is most likely the name of a future expansion for the Pokemon TCG, rather than anything related to the mainline games.
