Nintendo Reportedly Copyright Strikes Youtube Channel Showing Emulated Games

Nintendo has reportedly sent copyright strikes to a Youtube Channel that shows its games being emulated.

The channel in question is Retro Game Corps, which reviews third-party game consoles that are capable of emulating old games, including ones published by Nintendo. In a post of X/Twitter, the channel’s owner revealed that he had been sent a second copyright strike over a recent video involving Wii U games. The owner claims that he is “being specifically targeted by Nintendo” and has been forced to change his videos to blur out or omit Nintendo-related content.

This news comes a few months after Nintendo updated its guidelines for content creation, which includes revised rules against use of emulation software. It is possible that this copyright strike is part of Nintendo’s intention to more strictly enforce its content creation guidelines on creators.
