Nintendo Responds To Removal Of Retro Studios Credits From Donkey Kong Country Returns HD
Earlier this week, Nintendo released Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, a remaster of the classic Retro Studios title developed for the Wii.
Following the release, many fans were dismayed to discover that Retro Studios’ staff credits had been removed from the game. Instead, the only acknowledgement they get is that the title is “based on the work” of the original developers.
News outlet Eurogamer reached out to Nintendo for comment, and they had this to say in response:
“We believe in giving proper credit for anyone involved in making or contributing to a game’s creation, and value the contributions that all staff make during the development process.”
Disappointingly, the statement sidesteps the question and does not address why Retro Studios had their credits removed from the game. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
