Nintendo Responds To Rumor That They Are Laying Off Employees At A Subsidiary
Nintendo has issued a response to a rumor that they have been laying off employees at one of their subsidiaries.
The rumor first appeared on Japanese outlet Leakpress, which claimed that Nintendo was laying off employees at their subsidiary Mario Club Co., Ltd, which handles game-testing and debugging for Nintendo’s titles. Between 150 to 400 employees were claimed to be affected, with Nintendo employing tactics that were “a little different” from Bandai Namco’s previously reported “eviction rooms“.
In a statement issued to Eurogamer, Nintendo countered that the report was “untrue”, after confirming directly with Mario Club Co on the matter.
“We have confirmed with Mario Club Co., Ltd. that the rumoured information in the report is untrue.”
As with all rumors and claims of this nature, we caution readers to take them with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
