Following the reveal of the Switch Lite, Nintendo has revealed a new “updated” model for the original Switch with a longer battery life.
To clarify, this isn’t technically a new “version” of the Switch in the same way that the Switch Lite is, but what appears to be a slight update to the existing original Switch model.
The new model can be distinguished by having a product serial number starting with “XKW” as opposed to “XAW” as listed on the “Compare Switch” page on Nintendo’s website.
As you can see, the new model HAC-001(-01) Switch has a battery life of 4.5-9 hours compared to the original HAC-001 model’s 2.5-6.5 hours, which is quite a significant upgrade.
