Over the past week, the internet has been flooded with images and video from the CES 2025 convention, showing off products and accessories allegedly tailored for Nintendo’s yet to be revealed Switch successor.
The products and accessories have typically been paired with a supposed mock-up of the “Switch 2”, which some makers claim to have been based on an actual unit of the console. Many believe the claims to be legitimate, and some casual observers have even began confusing the mock-ups as the real deal.
Now, Nintendo has finally released an official comment about the situation. Speaking to Japanese outlet Sankei, a Nintendo spokesperson clarified that the “videos and images are not official”, presumably to quell the misconception that the real console is being showcased on the show floor. That said, the wording does not flat out dismiss the content as false or inaccurate, which could lend legitimacy to claims that they are based on the real Switch 2.
All in all, we will still have to wait for Nintendo’s official reveal to get confirmation on what the Switch 2 looks like, and more importantly, what games will be available to play on launch. Stay tuned for more as it comes.
