Earlier, Nintendo finally published its plans for E3 – including a Nintendo Direct presentation on June 11. The exact wording of its press release, however, seems to address various rumors about a Switch hardware revision.
If you already forgot about it, this is what Nintendo officially announced below. As you’ll notice in the third sentence (highlighted for emphasis) – Nintendo very specifically says the Direct broadcast will only focus ‘entirely‘ on software, with no room for hardware announcements.
Nintendo Direct E3 2019: The presentation will begin at 9 a.m. PT on June 11. Viewers can watch it by visiting https://e3.nintendo.com/. The presentation, which focuses entirely on software, will offer a look at games scheduled to launch in 2019.
This phrasing appears to outright reject claims that Nintendo will reveal the rumored Switch Lite or Pro consoles during the E3 Direct. The company has never really spoken about its E3 Directs in this manner before – so it looks like Nintendo is trying hard to calm down fan expectations before the day itself.
At this rate, we probably shouldn’t expect much hardware news from Nintendo during E3 at all. We’ll report back if anything changes in the future.
