Nintendo has published their investors Q&A session for the 9 months ending December 31, 2019. All contents of this article were translated by NintendoSoup.
One of the questions asked by an investor was what would the company do in light of new hardware launches by other companies such as Sony, which plans to release the PlayStation 5 in the holiday season. The investor also asked about the company’s plans as the system enters its 4th year.
Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa said that once the Switch enters its 4th year, he believes the system has reached the middle of its lifecycle. This means it has about 4 years left before supports starts to die off in 2024.
As to what the company will do with the Switch in the second half of its life, Furukawa says he’ll discuss further in 2021 and 2022.
