Nintendo Set To Acquire A Visual Content Company, With Plans To Rename It “Nintendo Pictures”
It looks like Nintendo is set to expand in a new way, as it welcomes a new company into its ranks!
Today, Nintendo Co. Ltd. officially revealed that it is set to acquire Dynamo Pictures – a visual content company that has previously worked on motion capture work for Persona 5, in addition to working with Nintendo previously to create Pikmin shorts on the Wii U and 3DS, and cutscenes for Metroid: Other M.
Here’s an excerpt from the press release below:
“Dynamo Pictures is a company that plans and produces visual content.
Nintendo has decided to acquire 100% of the outstanding shares (excluding treasury shares) of Dynamo Pictures and make it a wholly owned subsidiary to strengthen the planning and production structure of visual content in the Nintendo group.
The Acquisition is expected to close on October 3, 2022, pending satisfaction of all relevant terms and customary closing conditions.”
Even more interestingly, Nintendo also has plans to rename the company into “Nintendo Pictures” after this acquisition – so that it can focus on developments related to Nintendo’s IP:
“Upon closing of the Acquisition, the company name Dynamo Pictures is expected to be changed to “Nintendo Pictures Co., Ltd.” to focus on development of visual content utilizing Nintendo IP.”
Of course, it’s too early to say what this acquisition will mean in the long run. We’ll report back if we hear more in the future.
