Since April 4, 2025, My Nintendo Store has been carrying out a lottery to decide who will get the chance to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2 in Japan. What about other Japanese retailers?
It seems that nearly all major retailers will also be carrying out lotteries, with most of them starting from April 24. The only unknown at the moment is Amazon Japan, which is also expected to perform a lottery through its “request an invite” system.
Similar to My Nintendo Store, some retailers may also add certain conditions to qualify, such as being a member of their rewards program or having a purchase history at their online website.
Please keep in mind that all Nintendo Switch 2 consoles sold at retailers outside My Nintendo Store are Japanese-Only systems that are partially region locked.

Lottery (1st round): April 4 to April 16, 2025 11:00am
Conditions to enter: Over 50 hours of Nintendo Switch playtime, 1 year or more of Nintendo Switch Online membership, and an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription

Conditions to enter (expectation): Previous pre-orders used a request-to-invite system, so Switch 2 pre-orders are likely to follow the same format
Lottery (1st round): Starts from April 24, 2025
Conditions to enter: Be a Toys R Us Store Japan member and (you are expected to) have a purchase history at the retailer
Lottery (1st round): Starts from April 24, 2025
Conditions to enter (expectation): Be a GEO online store member and link your PONTA card to a rental membership feature
Lottery (1st round): Starts from April 24, 2025
Conditions to enter (expectation): Have a purchase history at the retailer, or finish setting up point sync
