Nintendo France has shared some new details about the Switch’s performance in the country, revealing that it has crossed a major sales milestone.
According to the latest figures shared by Nintendo France president Philippe Lavoué, the Switch has now sold an incredible 7.09 million units since launch as of December 2022, meaning that it has become the best selling home videogame console of all time in the country. By comparison, the previous record holder the Wii had 6.3 million lifetime sales in France. That said, the Switch is far from claiming the handheld title, which is owned by the Nintendo DS with 10.6 million sales.
In software news, Lavoué highlighted that the Pokemon franchise had a record-breaking year in France. Three Pokemon games (Arceus, Scarlet, Violet) appeared on the overall Top 10 best-selling videogames of 2022 in France, with Pokemon Legends Arceus being the best-selling individual SKU of the year at retail, above FIFA on PS4 at #2.
