Nintendo Switch Games Can’t Boot Up After Deleting Patch Data

An interesting discovery has been made on how Nintendo Switch games and their patch data work.

According to ResetERA user Vito, once you update a Nintendo Switch game, it will not be able to boot up after you delete its patch data. This applies to both Game Cards and digital downloads.

To make it boot up again, you’ll have to download all of the updates. It doesn’t matter even if you have previously played the game on its very first version. It seems that this may be a measure to counter potential loopholes in software.
