Nintendo Switch Online Growing Rapidly Thanks To Splatoon 2 And Smash Bros. Ultimate
During Nintendo’s Q&A session for investors, an investor asked for more details on how Nintendo Switch Online is doing, and the company’s plans going forward.
Nintendo President and global CEO Shuntaro Furukawa says retaining customers is very important, and to ensure customers remain subscribed they will enhance the contents of the service throughout 2019.
Initial uptake in Nintendo Switch Online was contributed primarily from Splatoon 2, which should be no surprise as Splatoon 2 is a very popular game in Japan and other parts of the world. After Splatoon 2, further growth was driven by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Furukawa also revealed more customers are purchasing monthly subscriptions over the family plan and annual plan.
