Nintendo Switch Online Launch Date Not Set In South Korea Yet
Nintendo Switch Online, Nintendo’s first paid subscription for online play, was released in most regions worldwide last week.
Without a subscription, Nintendo Switch owners are barred from playing most games online, with the exception of free-to-play games. Some of the regions excluded from the rollout of Nintendo Switch Online include territories with official Nintendo subsidiaries such as South Korea and Hong Kong.
Although Nintendo Hong Kong has been quiet on the state of Nintendo Switch Online, Nintendo of Korea has put out a notice, informing users the “start date of Nintendo Switch Online has not been decided yet”. This seems to imply Nintendo has plans to eventually open the service up to customers living in South Korea.
Until then, the only way of customers living in unsupported regions to play online is by changing their Nintendo Account country in order to purchase Nintendo Switch Online, which is no big deal.
