It looks like the Nintendo Switch has smashed yet another milestone.
According to Circana (formerly the NPD), Switch hardware sales in the US “finally” surpassed those of the Nintendo Wii system. This was achieved in July 2023.
While there are no exact sales figures available, it is estimated that around 49 million units of the system have been sold in the Americas to date. According to GamesIndustry.biz, this is less than one million units from the US lifetime sales of the Xbox 360 and just 5 million units shy of the PlayStation 2’s US lifetime sales.
As of June 2023, the Nintendo Switch has sold more than 129 million units worldwide – and it surpassed the Wii’s worldwide lifetime sales (101 million units) back in December 2021.
