In the past, Nintendo hoped every household will own at least 1 Nintendo home console, such as the Wii or Wii U. Their strategy was different when it came to the dedicated handhelds such as Nintendo DS and 3DS, as they wanted every family member to own 1 system.
So, what about the Nintendo Switch, a hybrid console? During today’s strategy briefing, Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima said he ultimately wants every member of a single household to own a Nintendo Switch, so the strategy they are going after is similar to dedicated handhelds.
This will definitely help to contribute to Kimishima’s goal of hitting 100 million Switch systems sold by the end of the console’s lifetime.
