Nintendo Wins Injunction Against Switch Piracy Mod Seller

It looks like Nintendo has made more headway in its war on Piracy, once again.

The company recently won an injunction against Sergio Moreno – a Californian man accused of selling Switch mod devices made by hacking group Team-Xecuter, which would purportedly allow users to load pirated games onto the console. It should be noted that Moreno himself is not actually a member of Team-Xecuter.

According to the injunction, Sergio Moreno will be prohibited from modifying, selling, renting, or distributing unauthorized copies of Nintendo technology, software, or trademarked material. The Injunction also requires Moreno to destroy existing modded devices and pirated software.

Moreno himself was not slapped with any fines, although each party will need to handle their own costs and attorney fees.

Still, Nintendo’s battle with pirates will likely persist for awhile. Several months ago, Nintendo also won a UK high court case which made it mandatory for several Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block Switch piracy websites.
