Nintendo’s Chinese N64 variant, iQue Player, has finally been hacked after almost fifteen years and in true hackerman fashion, everything was dumped onto the internet.
A total of 15 ROMs were dumped online, alongside the iQue Player SDK. They are:
Wave Race 64
Star Fox 64
Dr. Mario 64
Super Mario 64
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Mainland and Taiwan)
Mario Kart 64
F-Zero X
Yoshi’s Island
Paper Mario
Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Earth
Excitebike 64
Super Smash Bros.
Custom Robo
Animal Crossing
The Taiwanese localised ROM of Ocarina of Time seems to suggest that at one point, the iQue Player was going to make it to Taiwan.
Not just that, hackers have also managed to do some home brew on the iQue Player.
It was a long wait for the Chinese before such a hack was publically release. Still, it was better late than never.
