Octopath Traveler, the original HD-2D RPG, has seemingly been delisted from the eshop.
This discovery has been making the rounds on social media, as seen in a post from Wario64 below. If you do not own the game, navigating to Octopath Traveler‘s eshop page shows that it is “Not Available”, meaning there is no way to directly buy a digital copy of the game for Switch at the moment.
Although no official reason has been given for the delisting, many are speculating that it could be something to do with a change in publisher. As pointed out by Gematsu, the publisher for the game has been changed from Nintendo to Square Enix. It is believed that this change is due to Nintendo’s original publishing deal for Octopath Traveler having expired, and that the game will be relisted once its all sorted out.
