Last year, Activision Blizzard announced that Overwatch 2 was in the works with plans to launch on Switch alongside other platforms.
After a considerable degree of silence regarding the title, the company finally shared an update on the game’s status, although it was not exactly good news. Specifically, it was confirmed that Overwatch 2 would not be launching in 2021, meaning fans will have to wait till 2022 at earliest before it arrives:
“We expect Blizzard’s net bookings to grow, given the momentum in World of Warcraft and the other initiatives we have in the business. Our outlook does not include Diablo IV or Overwatch 2 launching in 2021. And while Diablo Immortal is progressing well and we anticipate its launch later this year, we don’t have any material contribution from the title in our outlook presently.”
That said, this is perhaps not entirely unsurprising given how little the title has been talked about since its original announcement. We will be sure to report back with more details as they come.
