Blizzard Entertainment has answered a few important questions about Overwatch: Legendary Edition for Nintendo Switch.
According to a Blizzard Entertainment representative in Japan, there are no plans to support cross saves on Nintendo Switch, meaning those with Overwatch accounts on other platforms will have no way to share or transfer their progress and items to the Switch.
The reason why is because Blizzard is managing both the Switch version and other platform versions separately, and they want players to experience Overwatch: Legendary Edition as a “fresh new game”.
Last but not least, Blizzard commented on the possibility of cross platform play between Switch and other platforms. The company says they understand the appeal of cross platform play and are currently looking into whether it is technologically possible to implement it. Other things will have to be settled before cross platform play could be enabled, such as making sure everything is balanced across all platforms.
