Overwatch’s Servers Will Shut Down After October 2, 2022

Overwatch players will soon have to move on from the game, to prepare for the impending release of its sequel.

Blizzard has officially confirmed that the last day to play on the current Overwatch servers will be 2 October 2022 – after which, they will shut down for good to make way for Overwatch 2‘s servers instead. Overwatch 2 will then launch officially for Nintendo Switch and other platforms as a free-to-play title from 4 October 2022.

Blizzard has also shared that existing Overwatch players will have the option to upgrade to Overwatch 2 sometime before its launch. For new players, the option to download Overwatch 2 will be made available from 4 October 2022.

We’ll report back as we hear more in the future. Stay tuned.
