Parent Gets Scolded By Child For Not Playing Enough To Qualify For Switch 2 Lottery

Since April 4, My Nintendo Store has been running a lottery that will select customers that can pre-order and purchase a Nintendo Switch 2 at launch.

To prevent scalpers from overwhelming the lottery, Nintendo has set out a few strict requirements, such as having at least 1 year of cumulative paid Nintendo Switch Online membership and at least 50 hours of playtime on Nintendo Switch.

While these strict requirements have been welcomed by users who are tired of scalpers, they have been a problem for some legitimate users, especially those that are part of a Family Group.

A parent, BostonGame777, shared the problem he’s facing on Twitter. He explained that the Switch he has at home is primarily played by his child. He has a Nintendo Switch Online family plan that he is paying for on his account, but he doesn’t meet the 50-hour requirement as he doesn’t play as often as his child. His child doesn’t qualify as only paying members of Nintendo Switch Online are eligible.

His child was clearly unhappy with him that he didn’t meet the 50-hour requirement and cried “why didn’t you play more?”

BostonGame777 lamented that when he was a child, he was told off by his parents for playing video games, and now he is scolded by his child for not playing enough.

Japanese users advised the father of one to try his luck at other retailers, which are expected to start their own lotteries from April 24.
