Back in 2018, Versus Evil and Obsidian Entertainment announced Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire for multiple platforms including Nintendo Switch. If you’ve been waiting to play the game on your Switch, however, we have some unfortunate news today.
According to a Versus Evil employee, the company has “decided not to move forward” with bringing the game to Nintendo Switch – which seems to imply that the Switch port has quietly been cancelled. This information was shared to fans via the company’s Discord channel, as shared by a Reddit user below:
This apparent cancellation is perhaps unsurprising, especially given that the publisher had abandoned updates for the first Pillars of Eternity game on Switch in 2021 – despite unresolved technical issues for that port. As things stand, Pillars of Eternity fans are better off enjoying the series on other platforms instead.
We’ll report back if we hear more in the future. Stay tuned.
