The Pokemon Company has announced they will be debuting a new AI tool for the upcoming Dragon King Tournament for Pokemon Scarlet And Violet.
The AI is called Pokemon Battle Scope (PBS), and was developed in partnership with Japanese AI company HEROZ Corporation. The goal of this technology is to help make Pokemon battles easier to follow for viewers who are less familiar with Pokemon battles, and is based on similar AI tools used for shogi competitions.
As detailed by The Pokemon Company and media outlet Automaton, PBS will take into account various factors during a battle to predict which player’s Pokemon has a higher chance of winning. This includes the Pokemon’s type, moves, items, weather conditions, field effects, and more. The PBS will show each player’s probability of winning, as well as the success probability of the player’s potential next moves, making it simpler for viewers to follow the flow of excitement live during the match.
If you’re interested to see this new tool in action, you’ll get the chance during the Dragon King Tournament via YouTube when it begins on February 25th 2024.
