A new bug has been discovered in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, one that has the potential to softlock the game.
This bug can only occur after completing the main story, specifically during the quest to capture the Legendary Pokemon Cresselia. In normal play, the quest requires players to speak to Warden Melli outside of the Moonview Arena before entering to battle and capture the Lunar Pokemon. The quest will then be marked as complete, and this is necessary in order to progress through the postgame and capture Arceus.
However, due to a bug introduced in the recent version update, players can skip speaking to Melli and capture Cresselia straight away by flying into the arena on Braviary. Unfortunately, this will cause his quest to break, and he will not acknowledge that the player captured Cresselia. This will then softlock the game, as players will not be able to complete the Legendary Pokemon quest and progress to the next stage of the postgame story.
You can watch a video explanation of the bug below, via SpacialSeer:
Thankfully, the Pokemon Company has already acknowledged the existence of the bug, and confirmed that a fix is in the works. At the time of this writing however, it seems that there is no way to recover from this bug once it has been triggered, and the only advice given is to complete the questline normally by speaking to Melli before capturing Cresselia.
Stay tuned for more info as it comes.
