Being the first open-world style games in the series, Pokemon Scarlet And Violet take a little bit longer to complete fully compared to most Pokemon games, including the three major story paths along with the final arc before the game’s end credits.
Although HowLongToBeat puts the average completion time for players at around 30 hours, speedrunners have managed to cut this time way down to around 5 to 6 hours, depending on whether a Turbo controller was used. The current fastest record is set by the user truely on Speedrun.com, clocking in at 5 hours and 27 minutes.
As seen in the video above, the primary strategy to achieve this time is to use Flamigo, a Flying/Fighting type Flamingo Pokemon that can be caught in the early game’s early areas. Flamigo not only has decently high attack and speed stats, but its ability Scrappy allows its Fighting-Type moves to hit Ghost-types, enabling it to blitz through the Gym Leaders, Elite Four, Titan Pokemon, and Team Star bosses without much difficulty once appropriately levelled.
