The Pokemon Company has published some updates sales figures for its games software and trading cards.
According to an update on their corporate website, The Pokemon Company has reached 480 million units of software sold worldwide, along with 52.9 billion trading cards. This is an increase of around 40 million software units and 9.7 billion cards over the last fiscal year.
Compared to the previous fiscal year, sales for Pokemon Trading Cards saw an increase of 200 Million, while sales for Pokemon software saw a decrease of 20 million. With regards to the latter figure, it should be noted that The Pokemon Company had two major releases during that previous fiscal year (Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl and Legends Arceus), and only had one major release during this one.
If these figures are accurate, Pokemon Scarlet And Violet should account for around half of the total software sales sold during the previous fiscal year, having sold around 22 million units during that period. At the time of this writing, The Pokemon Company has not announced any new games for release this fiscal year, and it will be interesting to see how far current offerings will be able to carry software sales moving into 2024.
