Pokemon Sword And Shield Could Have Been Developed In Unreal Engine

Some evidence from Pokemon Sword and Shield has led some to believe that the games were developed in Unreal Engine.

According to Reddit user IanMazgelis, the water and water reflections in Pokemon Sword and Shield perfectly match default water effects in Unreal Engine.

For comparison’s sake, take a look at the images below:

The Reddit user also added that Creatures Inc, the company that helps to make Pokemon models for the Pokemon games, had put out a hiring call for developers with Unreal Engine experience.

If IanMazgelis’ assumptions are true, Pokemon Sword and Shield would become the first mainline Pokemon games developed in Unreal Engine.

What do you think?

Thanks, Brandon.
