Famitsu has published the Japanese sales rankings for December 9 to December 15, 2019.
Pokemon Sword and Shield, which released on November 15, continue to sell massively in Japan. Both games moved 231,578 copies last week, bringing lifetime sales up to 2.45 million copies. This is the fifth week both games have been No. 1 on the charts.
As Japan approaches the Christmas and New Year holidays, sales for previously released software this year are starting to pick up, such as Ring Fit Adventure (No. 3, 57,746 copies), Luigi’s Mansion 3 (No. 4, 48,449 copies), and Minecraft (No. 5, 25,036 copies).
Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 (No. 5) saw a surge in sales last week – the game moved 26,677 copies, increasing lifetime sales to 103,857 units.
The Nintendo Switch sold 155,516 systems while the Switch Lite moved 81,109 pieces last week alone.
