In preparation for the shift to Pokemon Scarlet And Violet, The Pokemon Company has announced they will be winding down online events for Pokemon Sword And Shield.
Firstly, on November 1st 2022, the last Wild Area News update for Raid Battles will be released, adding Gigantamax Pokemon that are still not normally available for the game such as Gigantamax Snorlax. After this, there will be no new Raid Battle Events being released for the title. Similarly, November 1st will mark the end of Ranked Battles and Online Competitions for Pokemon Sword And Shield, with the final “Ultimate Competition” being held from October 27th till October 30th.
That said, players will still be able to run and play in Friendly Competitions, although these won’t be displayed in Pokemon HOME after December 1st. In addition, all other online features such as the Y-Comm will still be supported and usable provided players have an active Switch Online subscription.
The winding down of these features should not come as much of a surprise to most fans, as the focus will be shifting to Pokemon Scarlet And Violet next month, which will have its own Ranked Battles and Raid Events. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
