Pokken Tournament Will No Longer Be Part Of Pokemon Championship Series After 2022
Earlier this year, The Pokemon Company confirmed that the Pokemon World Championships would be returning in 2022, after being put on pause for the two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Unfortunately, this year will be the last time that the Pokemon fighting game Pokken Tournament will be featured at the event. The game had previously made appearances at the 2016 World Championships after its WiiU release, and every year since then after its launch on Switch as Pokken Tournament DX.
When the 2022 Season concludes, #PokkenTournamentDX will no longer be part of the #PlayPokemon program.
We acknowledge this game’s incredible community & its unwavering support. Thank you for creating great moments and memories with us throughout the years.

The removal of Pokken Tournament from the Championships series is perhaps unsurprising, given that the game has seen little support over the past few years. That said, some fans have expressed hope that this move could also be a hint that a sequel is on its way, although no such plans have been announced by The Pokemon Company, or the game’s developer Bandai Namco.
