Last week, Nintendo opened the official Japanese website for Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Aside from the usual character profiles and story summaries, however, it looks like another interesting detail was hiding within its pages.
While digging into the site’s source code, some fans have noticed something peculiar about the House Leaders Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude as they appear on the game’s box art. Namely, Claude is the only one of the trio without legs in his artwork!
You can check out the particular artwork in all of its hilariously incomplete glory below. You’ll notice that his lower torso was not simply cropped off – it’s still messy from leftover digital brushstrokes!
Cutting corners like this is fairly common in the game development industry, especially if no one will actually see the full artwork. Nevertheless, it’s quite rare to see Nintendo do this with one of its flagship series today. Perhaps they really were rushing to submit the finalized cover art for the upcoming game, after all.
It’s hard to say if we’ll see a complete version of this artwork in the future. We’ll report back we hear anything about it next time.
