As many of you may know, Pokemon Sword/Shield‘s female trainer and the rival character Marnie have become very popular among the fanbase following the game’s release.
Recently, the two characters have become the subjects of a new meme trend on the r/animemes subreddit. The trend all started when a Twitter artist going by hokke8787 posted the following fanart of the female trainer trying to take a selfie with Marnie, who refuses to smile for the photo.
Later, fans began posting humorous edits of this comic on r/animemes, where it gained a surprising amount of traction as a meme template. You can find some of the more interesting and hilarious examples below:
