Random: Nintendo Files Takedowns Against Fanmade Pokemon FPS

Aside from combatting leaks of Pokemon Legends Arceus, Nintendo has brought down the hammer on a rather unusual fanmade Pokemon game.

The game in question is a first person shooter created by Reddit user Dragon_GameDev, described as a “Pokemon Safari game with guns” where players can hunt down various Pokemon with an assortment of realistic firearms. It was intended to be the first part of a year-long project where Dragon_GameDev would create a random game every month, so as to learn more about game development.

Dragon_GameDev: “I’m taking a break this year from my main projects to work on a new YouTube Series where I make random projects in 30 days. This is my first one! 🙂 No code was re-used but I did use a boat-load of assets and got the Pokémon models and animations from Sun & Moon.”

This hilarious mashup of Pokemon and guns quickly attracted a great deal of attention online, much to the ire of Nintendo, who quickly began moving to take down footage of the game, including Dragon_GameDev’s Youtube video detailing its development. Presumably, Nintendo did not find the concept so amusing, especially when it could affect impressions of the brand new official release coming later this week.

Although most footage of the game has been scrubbed from the internet, Dragon_GameDev’s original Reddit post mysteriously remains unaffected, which you can check out below for a peek at what the game was like:
