A few hours ago at The Game Awards 2020, it was revealed that Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII would be joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a DLC fighter.

Naturally, the inclusion of the character was met with a great deal of surprise and shock online. Not only is Sephiroth the first third-party villain to be playable in Smash, he is also the first fully fledged character to join from a third-party game already represented in Smash (if Rictor and Ken are discounted as echoes).
