After months of delay, the Switch version of Redout is finally becoming a reality!
34BigThings has announced that the racing title will launch for the Switch eShop on 14 May 2019. The release will include all previous updates from the PC version – for a total of 60 tracks over 12 environments, 28 vehicles, 11 event types, and more.
The company’s CEO Valerio Di Donat said in a press release:
“We are very, very happy to release Redout on Switch…Porting the game to Nintendo’s console has been a bumpy road filled with technical challenges, and we are proud to have come out on top of them to deliver fans what they have been asking. In the last six months, fans have been asking us daily with great concern whether the port to Switch had been canceled. We are thrilled to show them that it never was. Not only that, this version is the most complete version of Redout we ever made and it will be a major milestone for the entire genre.”
“[Publisher] Nicalis’ support has been crucial in accomplishing this port, and we are honored to have worked alongside a group of veterans of the industry such as them. We hope that this collaboration will develop further, tying a stronger bond between us.”
For now, there doesn’t seem to be news about the game receiving a physical release, as initially promised. Since Nicalis is involved, however, we can probably expect to hear something in the future. We’ll report back if we hear more.
