Right on the heels of celebrating their third anniversary, Rocket League is one of the most celebrated online multiplayer game at the moment. However, where does the game continue to go from there? At least to Psyonix, the answer is not Rocket League 2.
Speaking to GameSpot, Rocket League’s Director, Scott Rudi said that Rocket League team hopes to continue to expand and improve on the current Rocket League and have no plans to release a Rocket League 2
“That’s preferable to do; games-as-a-service. The most valuable thing in our game is our fans. A lot of the stuff we do is focused on keeping them with us. Keeping them interested and all hyped up about our game. We want to provide a really good experience [for players] to have fun with for years to come. We want to keep this going. I don’t know what I’d do with Rocket League 2. I’d rather do more to expand the existing Rocket League. It’s doing great, there is a lot ahead of it. So yeah, we have no plans for Rocket League 2.”
With the rise of online gaming, numbered sequels have slowly given way to a more progressive style of updates and it seems like Psyonix has decided that progressive updates are the way to go for the game.
