Earlier this week, Game Freak was hit by a massive data breach which reportedly included several internal design materials for unreleased Pokemon projects.
Now, a cancelled spin-off title has reportedly leaked online. This spin-off was titled “Pokemon Rodeo” and is described as a battle game where players ride various Pokemon into battle against one another. Players could give Pokemon “paint” to unlock various powers, and it was planned to be released on Switch and mobile devices.
Prototype gameplay footage and concept art is also circulating online, which are viewable below via Centro Leaks at the time of this writing:
At the time of this writing, it is not clear why this project has yet to see the light of day. However, some believe that Game Freak could still be working on this under a new codename “Synapse”, said game was among the future projects claimed to be in development in the original leak from the hacker. Furthermore, the game’s appearance bears some eerie similarity to Palworld, whom Nintendo is suing for patent infringement. Nintendo has taken legal action against fangames before prior to releasing their own official title with similar ideas or concepts.
Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
