Rumor: Level-5’s Holy Horror Mansion Trailer Accused Of Using AI Art

Earlier this week, Level-5 released a trailer for Holy Horror Mansion, an ambitious cross-media project described as the “next concept Yo-Kai Watch“.

Following its release, many fans began expressing concerns that Level-5 might have used AI Generated art for the trailer. Specifically, the backgrounds seen in many of the trailer’s shots have inconsistencies that are characteristic of AI generated artwork. This claim is further supported by an old interview Level-5 had with Automaton Media, where they mentioned experimenting with AI generation for game development.

Using of AI Generation in games has been a controversial topic amongst players, with many believing it to be unnecessary cost-cutting and harmful to artists. Others are a little bit more tolerant of its use, stating that it is fine as long as it is not featured in the final game.

At the time of this writing, Level-5 has yet to officially confirm or deny the use of AI generated artwork in their trailer. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
