Rumor: Next Pokemon Game Could Be Linked To Pokemon Black/White

Although the Pokemon Scarlet And Violet DLC is still a few months out, a new rumor has surfaced that could hint at the next mainline game in the Pokemon franchise.

This rumor comes primarily via Riddler Khu, a prolific Pokemon leaker who famously leaked the content related to Pokemon Legends Arceus and Pokemon Scarlet And Violet months before they were officially released.

In a series of private Tweets, the leaker hinted that the next game in the series will be linked to the Pokemon Generation V games Pokemon Black And White. Rather than a straight up remake, Khu’s Tweets seem to suggest that it will be a brand new game, similar to Pokemon Legends Arceus‘ relationship with Diamond And Pearl.

Even if the leaks are not entirely accurate or clear, a new game linked to Pokemon’s Generation V makes a lot of sense. Black And White are the next games in line to receive a revisit, with some pointing out that there is a lack of Generation V Pokemon in Scarlet And Violet, similar to how Sword And Shield lacked Generation IV Pokemon ahead of the release of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. In addition, like Scarlet And Violet,  a Past/Future theme is also featured prominently in Black And White,

Of course, we are still very far away for any new game announcements for the Pokemon series, and we will likely only hear more about the next mainline titles after Scarlet And Violet’s DLC concludes in Winter 2023. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
