Bloomberg has published a new report with claims about Nintendo’s plans for Switch 2 production this quarter.
According to their sources, Nintendo is planning to cut Switch 2 production by about 30% this fiscal quarter, from 6 million to 4 million. The sources claim that this is primarily due to the lower-than-expected sales of the console over the US holiday season, as well as a concerns over whether their new Switch 2 exclusive titles will have enough staying power to warrant a higher console output.
That said, the sources also believe that Nintendo will still have no trouble meeting their 20 million unit target for the Switch 2 this fiscal year. The reduction in production is set to continue through April 2026, and whether or not it will eventually increase again will depend on the current climate surrounding logistics and exports.
