Last year, Nintendo launched the Switch Online Expansion Pack, which added Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games to the service’s library of classic games. Now, some new evidence has surfaced suggesting that more classic Nintendo systems could be joining in very soon.
As shared by @trashbandatcoot on Twitter, files for Game Boy and Game Boy Advance emulators for the Switch have allegedly leaked via 4chan. These apps are codenamed “Sloop” and “Hiyoko”, and seem to have been developed by Nintendo Europe Research & Development (NERD), who worked on the previous emulators used by the system.
The files also included a set of Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles for the app, although not all of them are playable.
Of course, until Nintendo actually announces such a service, we caution readers to take this discovery with a grain of salt. We will be sure to report back with more details as they come.
