Rumor: Pokemon Winds/Waves Could Have Over 300 New Pokemon/Forms
Earlier this year, The Pokemon Company announced Pokemon Winds And Waves, the next mainline entries in the Pokemon series releasing in 2027.
While there has been little in the way of official news since then, numerous rumors have been swirling around the new titles. According to Pokemon leak account Centro Leaks, a new batch of potentially reliable information has surfaced, suggesting that they may be the most ambitious titles to date:
- Over 300 new Pokemon are planned for the games, including regional variants and special.
- Starter typings may be Grass/Ground, Fire/Fairy, and Water/Psychic
- May include an Ice/Psychic regional form for the Psyduck line
- A Poison/Dragon regional form for the Salandit line
- The new battle mechanic will have special forms for some Pokemon, included in this number
- The games will be “MMOLite” with heavy emphasis on online communication features
- Will have Three separate storylines, similar to Pokemon Scarlet/Violet
- Goal is to be “the most personable” generation yet, and for players to “Remember all new Pokémon, to know them, to feel closer to them”.
- Most of the development team has moved on to working on the DLC, but the ambitious scope of Winds/Waves forced them to delay it to 2027 in order to have more time to finish.
If the claim about over 300 new Pokemon or forms is accurate, this would be the largest number of new Pokemon introduced in a new generation to date. Even if only half of this number are truly new Pokemon, it would easily rival the previous title holder Pokemon Black/White, which introduced 156 new Pokemon.
As with all rumors of this nature, we caution readers to take this info with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
