Following the official reveal of the Donkey Kong Expansion for Super Nintendo World, several rumors have surfaced about what Universal and Nintendo have planned next for their partnership.

These rumors have been compiled by theme park outlet Orlando Park Spot, which suggests that attractions based on The Legend Of Zelda, Luigi’s Mansion, and Pokemon are currently in the works for Universal Studios Orlando as well as Universal Studios Japan.

You can read the full details about the rumors here, or check out a summary below:

Legend Of Zelda

  • Legend Of Zelda has long been rumored to be replacing the Lost Continent section of Islands of Adventure in Universal Orlando.
  • Would be based mainly on the games, and may feature “an indoor boat ride as its main attraction, as well as smaller outdoor ride—perhaps a small roller coaster—as well as a reimagined Mythos restaurant, now themed as the Deku Tree from Zelda”.
  • Was rumored to open by 2027.

Luigi’s Mansion

  • A Luigi’s Mansion “Mini-Land” is rumored for Universal’s Epic Universe park in Orlando.
  • The main attraction will be a dark ride where riders catch ghosts using the Poltergust.
  • As a mini-land, there may also be a themed restaurant and an additional ride to complement the main one.
  • An opening date for this ride is not known.

Pokemon

  • Universal Studios Japan will receive a Pokemon Ride, replacing The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man ride which is closing on January 22nd 2024.
    • Will utilize Augmented Reality (AR) similar to the Mario Kart ride.
    • Riders will be able to use various hand gestures to interact and battle with Pokemon on the ride.
  • Universal Studios Orlando will receive a cloned version of Japan’s Pokemon Ride, replacing The Simpsons rise.
  • Universal Studios Orlando may also receive a full on “Pokemon Land” where visitors will use an interactive Poke Ball item to catch Pokemon and manage them via an app.
  • Pokemon attractions for Universal Orlando are rumored to open by 2030, but may possibly be moved forward due to the closure of The Simpsons ride.

As with all rumors of this nature, we caution readers to take them with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for more official updates as they come.
