Recently, Masahiro Sakurai released a new book in Japan which has now been translated by Ayumi Tachibana on the Smash Boards.
Here is a roundup on what he mentioned about DLC for the Super Smash Bros series:
-Sakurai confirmed there are no plans to hold a Smash Ballot for Super Smash Bros Ultimate as they will be using the previous ballot’s results for Super Smash Bros For Wii U/3DS.
-Snake was originally considered for the Super Smash Bros For Wii U/3DS DLC due to popularity in the ballot but was later rejected in favor for Bayonetta.
-Sakurai stated that he tries to portray characters in Super Smash Bros as if they were in an entry of their own series and that it serves as publicity for the character.
-Sakurai describes the idea of the Season Pass for Super Smash Bros Ultimate as “terrifying” as buyers won’t know beforehand what is included in the pass.
