A few days ago, we reported on Mario and Sonic being best friends at the moment. From the same CNBC interview, we got to understand where Sega intends to be in the next five years.
According to CNBC, Sega Sammy’s President, Haruki Satomi, said that they’ll like to make around ¥75 Billion in operating profit by 2020 and hopefully one day be the number one entertainment company in Japan.
CNBC: Where do you see Sega Sammy in the next five years? What will the company look like?
Haruki Satomi: At least we’d like to be the number one entertainment company in Japan, and we try to be a game changer. Our 2020 March target is available and that is about 500 billion yen, 75 billion operating profit yen but at least this number we would like to achieve in five years as well.
Besides conventional video games, Sega Sammy also operates a huge variety of Pachinko machines throughout Japan, bringing them additional dough when their console game segment slumps. Hopefully, Satomi can achieve his vision.
